Highlights and features of ISFRI 2025

1.Plenary session

1)Gil Brogdon Honorary Lecture

Please have Dr. Seiji Shiotani, one of the pioneers of postmortem imaging in Japan, present on the topic ‘My Experience and Involvement in Postmortem Imaging.’ He will explain the early days of postmortem imaging in Japan up to the present and provide guidance for the future. Please join us for the plenary session following the opening ceremony on the first day.

2)Plenary lecture

Please have Dr. Suguru Torimitsu, who is actively researching in forensic anthropology, present on the topic ‘Forensic Anthropology Using CT in Japan.’ He will introduce insights from anthropological studies based on various human body structures observed through postmortem imaging, and provide guidance on the future utilization of postmortem imaging. Please join us for the Plenary Lecture following the Gil Brogdon Honorary Lecture on the first day.

2.Poster presentation

At conferences, participants sometimes feel disappointed by the short discussion times. To address this, we have provided a web presentation opportunity for all presentations. Here, presenters can fully showcase their research using formats like MP4. Additionally, posters will feature QR codes to enable interactive presentations and facilitate direct exchanges of ideas among a large audience. They will be exhibited from the first day to the last day.

3.Participants

The ISFRI annual meeting this year is made possible by the generous support of our sponsors, allowing participation at approximately 2/3 the usual cost. Particularly, lead presenters (for oral presentations, posters, and case presentations) can enjoy even lower rates. Additionally, we offer a special discount program for non-members who have not previously attended ISFRI, providing them the opportunity to experience their first ISFRI at a reduced rate (prior membership registration is required). Don’t miss this opportunity to present your research findings to a world-wide audience. Abstract submissions are open from August 2024 to October 2024, and acceptance notifications are scheduled for January 2025.

4.Enjoying Fukui Prefecture

1)Lunch-On Lecture

In Fukui Prefecture, dinosaur fossils have been excavated, and it is home to Japan’s only dinosaur department. Dr. Soichiro Kawabe, a leading researcher in dinosaur fossil CT studies, will introduce the current state and detailed research of digital analysis in dinosaur studies. Please join us for the Lunch-On Lecture on the first day.

2)Excursion

We will visit the Fukui Prefectural Dinosaur Museum, one of the world’s top three dinosaur museums. After the Lunch-On Lecture, we will travel by bus to experience numerous valuable fossils. This will be a tour following the lecture, promising a memorable and engaging experience that will leave a lasting impression on you. Please prepare your Excursion & Cocktail Party ticket (limited to the first 200 participants).

3)Sake Culture

Fukui Prefecture is famous as a rice-producing region, known for producing premium sake made from rice, which is a pride of the world. Particularly at ESHIKOTO, a concept rooted in 200 years of sake brewing, fostering love for nature, local community, and people. ESHIKOTO has become a place where people gather and enjoy various aspects of life. When read in reverse, it spells ‘TOKOSHIE,’ meaning eternity in Japanese. It will be the final destination of the Excursion. Please prepare your Excursion & Cocktail Party ticket (limited to the first 200 participants). (non-alcohol drink is also available.)
